Reversibility of historical and future climate change with a complex earth system model

چکیده

The reversibility of a wide range components the earth system was investigated by comparing forward and time-reversed historical future simulations coupled model known as Beijing Normal University model. Many characteristics climate system, including surface temperature, ocean heat content (OHC), convective precipitation, total runoff, ground evaporation, soil moisture, sea ice extent, Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, did not fully return to their initial values when or natural anthropogenic forcing agents were reversed. temperature OHC declines lagged behind decline in greenhouse gases (GHGs). Reverses other variables occurred direct response GHGs. level increased, even after all forces returned original values. Furthermore, most because thermal inertial. end states variables, than those related storage, mainly depended on state forces, unaffected growth rate policy implication this study is that change cannot be completely reversed if external are

Caspian Sea south coast future climate change estimations through regional climate model

. Caspian Sea south coast future climate change estimations through regional climate model many physical of the procedures related to climate change are not perceived thoroughly. Scientific knowledge used to show those procedures completely, and to analyses forecasts is so complex, since most current studies about climate physical model have been done through semi experimental and random model...

Historical and idealized climate model experiments: an intercomparison of Earth system models of intermediate complexity

Both historical and idealized climate model experiments are performed with a variety of Earth system models of intermediate complexity (EMICs) as part of a community contribution to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fifth Assessment Report. Historical simulations start at 850 CE and continue through to 2005. The standard simulations include changes in forcing from solar luminosity, ...

Past and future polar amplification of climate change: climate model

34 Abstract Climate model simulations available from the PMIP1, PMIP2 and CMIP (IPCC-AR4) intercomparison projects for past and future climate change simulations are examined in terms of polar temperature changes in comparison to global temperature changes and with respect to pre-industrial reference simulations. For the mid-Holocene (MH, 6,000 years ago), the models are forced by changes in th...

GRACE, time-varying gravity, Earth system dynamics and climate change.

Continuous observations of temporal variations in the Earth's gravity field have recently become available at an unprecedented resolution of a few hundreds of kilometers. The gravity field is a product of the Earth's mass distribution, and these data-provided by the satellites of the Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment (GRACE)-can be used to study the exchange of mass both within the Earth ...

Future climate change impact on hydrological regime of river basin using SWAT model

Hydrological components in a river basin can get adversely affected by climate change in coming future. Manipur River basin lies in the extreme northeast region of India nestled in the lesser Himalayan ranges and it is under severe pressure from anthropogenic and natural factors. Basin is un-gauged as it lies in remote location and suffering from large data scarcity. This paper explores the imp...
